Initial-Eligibility Clearinghouse for Students Interested in Competing in College
All high-school athletes wishing to compete in college must register with the Initial-Eligibility Clearinghouse. The Clearinghouse maintains and processes all of the initial-eligibility certifications. The NCAA Initial-Eligibility Clearinghouse, located in Iowa City, Iowa, is the organization that handles ALL inquiries regarding an individual's initial eligibility status. The Clearinghouse operates a separate website which maintains and processes all of the initial-eligibility certifications. A prospective student-athlete can register with the Clearinghouse by filling out an online application at the NCAA Eligibility Center website.
ATTENTION: All prospective student-athletes intending to enroll in an NCAA Division I or II institution for the first time on or after August 1, 2007 must have an academic and amateurism certification from the NCAA Eligibility Center.
ATTENTION: The NCAA has adopted new legislation that will require prospects who intend to enroll at NCAA Division I and Division II institutions to supply ACT or SAT scores to the Clearinghouse directly from the testing agencies. Test scores on an official high school transcript will no longer be accepted for NCAA purposes.
