State Conferences:

ACES- Members attend several leadership and team workshops developed by the FFA state officer team. This conference is held a weekend in February, and members from across are able to collaborate and network.

SLLC- At the annual State Legislative Leadership Conference, members can go through the process of making a bill into a law. They also have the opportunity to visit our state’s capitol and meet with various legislators at the conference’s concluding breakfast.

Pennsylvania Farm Show, Harrisburg, PA

Members explore different exhibits, meet with vendors, and attend educational demonstrations on current agricultural topics. In the afternoon, our chapter attends the FFA Mid-Winter Convention to watch our senior members receive their Keystone degrees.

Fundraisers:

Fruit Sale- The fruit sale is our biggest fundraiser and a long standing tradition. We sell a variety of citrus fruits including navels, grapefruit, tangelos, and clementines, as well as pineapples and apples. This fundraiser helps us send members to competitions and conferences throughout the year.

Contests:

Career Development Events- CDEs allow members to learn skills specific to agricultural careers. Students can compete against members in the county, region, state, and national level and win awards for their achievements. For many events students compete as a team, so before the competition, they set up practices with the FFA advisor or local community experts to prepare. Recently our members have competed in CDEs like forestry, small gas engines, horse evaluation, nursery landscape, wildlife, and public speaking. Check out the National FFA or Pennsylvania FFA for a complete list of CDEs and start your own team today!

Conventions:

State Convention- State Convention is held at Penn State University in June and is where the state level CDEs are held. In addition to the contests, members also have the opportunity to tour the campus and experience living in the dorms. Other state level awards are also presented at general sessions to members who have exceled at their Supervised Agriculture Experience projects. Members also get to relax by enjoying a dance sponsored by the PA FFA Alumni.

National Convention- This event our chapter goes to every few years. At this convention over 50,000 FFA members from across the nation gather to compete in CDEs, network with colleges and business representatives, listen to motivational speakers, participate in community service projects, and meet other members. Our chapter also tours local attractions surrounding the city of Indianapolis.
