The Ephrata Area School District strives to offer quality musical experiences at all levels. The goal is to provide a sequential, balanced program with offerings for all students.
At the high school level, the traditional performing groups – Concert Choir, Band, and Orchestra – rehearse during the first period every day and perform two public concerts per year. In addition, many non-performance classes are offered where students learn about music, with no goal of a public performance. These courses include Guitar Class I & II, Jazz to Rock, American Music Theatre, Music Perspectives, and Voice Class. Various music theory classes are offered for the more advanced student who might be interested in pursuing a career in music.
The high school music department also offers many extracurricular opportunities such as the Marching Band, Indoor Guard, Chamber Orchestra, Jazz Band and Camerata Singers. Many of these performing groups are by audition only and focus on a specific medium of music.
