Every other year, German students who are in their second year or later of German study are given the opportunity to participate in a three-week exchange with Eberbach, Ephrata's sister city in Germany. In the fall of the exchange year, EHS students host students from Eberbach, who live with their families and attend school. The following summer, EHS German students travel to Eberbach, where again the focus of the trip is experiencing German daily life through attending school and living with a host family. Several daily excursions are planned throughout the stay as well as a three-day trip to another region of Germany. Past trips have included visits to Lake Constance, Berlin, Cologne and Munich. Every other summer, Spanish students who are in their second year or later of Spanish study are given the opportunity to participate in a trip to Spain. The trip lasts approximately ten days and students visit a variety of different places while there. In 2010, students visited the cities of Barcelona, Madrid, Toledo, Sevilla, Córdoba and Granada. They toured various famous landmarks such as the Prado Museum, the Palacio Nacional, the Mezquita, the Alhambra and several parks and cathedrals. Students also witnessed a flamenco performance, attended a bullfight, tested out their navigation skills on the metro system, and relaxed on the beach on Spain’s Costa del Sol in Málaga.
