World Language students attend LVC's International Culture Day
story by Sr. Cerullo

On Friday, March 25, 2011, Spanish teacher Sr. Cerullo, his student teacher, Sra. Buchter, and German teacher Frau Strohl took a group of 33 students to Lebanon Valley College to attend the 29th Annual International Culture Day.  This year’s them was “Music Speaks to the World” as students were given a chance to enjoy the rhythm and sounds found around the globe.

There were 18 Spanish students and 15 German students from Ephrata who participated in Bengaku (a Jeopardy-style language competition) and a flag competition against other high schools from around the area.

In addition to the competitions, the students were able to participate in several activities directed by the college students from Lebanon Valley.  Students were asked to have a “cultural passport” stamped by completing puzzles, matching musical groups and pictures, playing charades, and taking a shot at their own American Idol performance.

This was a very memorable and rewarding day for everyone involved.
