On Tuesday, September 28, students in the "Going Green" and transportation engineering classes got a close-up look at a new Toyota Prius prototype vehicle. The vehicle, a Prius PHV, can be plugged into a regular wall outlet to recharge the battery in only three hours. When the battery is charged, the car can travel up to 13 miles totally on electric before it switches to the regular hybrid mode.
The vehicle is one of only 155 that are currently on the road across the nation. Russell Frost, a Toyota Consumer Experience Expert is an acquaintance of Mr. Joel Bischoff, high school technology education teacher, and Frost was able to stop by the high school and give the students a close-up look at the car and discuss the technology that makes it run.
