Chem students create man-sized molecule models

Guests entering the high school lobby on Tuesday morning, January 25, were greeted by a very unique scene.  Chemistry students in the high school were learning about molecules and their geometries in a very visual and concrete method.  Armed with wind tubes up to 6’ long, teams of students had to create models of molecules that had been given to them by Mrs. Fryberger, their teacher.  Rather than build the usual desktop models out of toothpicks, the students were challenged to work together to create geometries such as octahedral, linear, tetrahedral and trigonal pyramidal.
