Brazilian professor/percussionist shares talents with students

Dr. Jorge Sacramento, the Associate Professor of Percussion at the Federal University of Bahia in Brazil, spent a day working with Ephrata High School and Middle School students. He demonstrated several unique percussive instruments from Brazil and led informal jam sessions. He also worked with 6th and 7th Grade students during their music lessons. His visit helped students learn about Brazil and its music and culture.

Several members of the Ephrata High School percussion ensemble will perform under the direction of Dr. Sacramento at the Day of Percussion on Saturday, March 19. The event will be held at Steinman Hall, 42 North Prince Street, Lancaster. The Gala Concert begins at 7:30 PM. There is an admission fee.

On Wednesday, March 23, Ephrata High School students will also have the opportunity to perform with Dr. Sacramento at his farewell concert at Elizabethtown College. The percussion concert begins at 7:30 PM in the Elizabethtown College Koons Activity Venue, located in Brossman Commons. The concert is free and open to the public.
