Students from the Sports & Entertainment Marketing class have been participating in an “Apprentice-style” project to sell tickets for the Ephrata Area Chamber of Commerce Night at the Reading Phillies on June 30.
Students were divided into two teams. Each team chose a project manager; named their team; developed a promotional plan; and designed marketing materials that included a display board, business cards, brochures, and a television commercial for broadcast on Ephrata AM. Their goal was to persuade customers to buy game tickets from their team. The competition provided an opportunity for students to put into action the marketing skills learned in their class.
They presented their marketing strategies to a panel of judges from the high school administration and Chamber Board. The winning team was named based upon three criteria: number of tickets sold, their campaign presentation, and the team evaluation completed by their instructor. Team and individual prizes were awarded.
The winning team was Philly Nation. The second place team was First Round Pick.
The teams combined to sell 466 tickets worth $2,330. Tickets to Ephrata Night at the Reading Phillies are still available by contacting the Ephrata Area Chamber of Commerce at (717) 738-9010.
