Congratulations to the Ephrata High School Quiz Bowl team on its victory over Pequea Valley on Monday, January 10. Ephrata came out strong in the first round with a balanced attack by the varsity foursome, scoring 160 points to Pequea Valley's 40.
However, Ephrata slowed its pace in the second round, allowing Pequea Valley to come within 15 points of beating them. Thanks to a correct answer by Ethan Hartranft on the last toss-up question in the second round, Ephrata pulled out a second round win by a score of 130-115.
Ephrata was back in true form in the third round where they outscored Pequea Valley 170-115. The final score after three rounds was Ephrata 460, Pequea Valley 270.
Kudos to junior Melissa Kreider who successfully answered 12 questions in the match. Ephrata is currently in second place in the East Division, one round behind Conestoga Valley, with one match left in the season. Keep up the great work, Quiz Bowlers!
