Music students treated to Body/Vocal/Percussion workshop
Camille Armstrong, a retired member of STOMP, will lead several Introduction to Body/Vocal/Percussion workshops for Ephrata Area School District students in Grades 5-12. Funding for her residency is being provided through a grant from the Ephrata Area Education Foundation. District music teachers Jacqueline Owsinski and Kristie
Ohlinger received the grant and organized the workshops.

STOMP is a percussion group originating in the United Kingdom that uses the body and ordinary objects to create a physical theatre performance. During a week of performances, the cast goes through quite a few "instruments," including 30 brooms, 8 metal trashcan lids, 15 pounds of sand, 12 drumsticks, 8 bananas, and many other
unusual props.

Before spending ten years with the Off-Broadway touring companies of STOMP, Camille attended the New York City High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts where she learned Body Percussion. She graduated with a Vocal Music and Arts Endorsement Diploma. Camille has choreographed and taught Body Percussion classes and workshops and formed Step teams and competitions. She continues to work as a Hip Hop and Body Percussion instructor/choreographer and outreach artist. Through her residency, Camille will share her love of choreography and body percussion with District students.
