We would like to thank all the parents who submitted name labels and to all the volunteers who made this fundraiser possible. The amount of labels we collect really determines the success of the fundraiser. This year we collected over 3,680 labels! It was a lot of work to write, fold, tape and stamp all those mailers, but we had lots of help from Moms, Dads & even a few Grandmas! We can't thank you enough for your help!
The top 3 classes who had the highest percentage of students bringing in at least 5 labels won movie & popcorn parties for their class. Congratulations to Mrs. Steven's morning kindergarten class, Mrs. Reber's 2nd grade class, and Mrs. Prevoznick's 3rd grade class!
Our published goal for Race was to raise $14,000 with the following rewards...
$10,000 - Dr. Gerhart would dress-up as a surprise guest
$12,000 - The top 10 kids in each grade who brought in the most labels would get to throw a whipped cream pie at one of 3 selected teachers. (Mrs. Stevens, Mrs. Keener, or Mrs. Rossman)
$14,000 - The PTO would sponsor a Family Fun Night at the Ephrata Rec Center
We're thrilled to announce that, as of Race Day, we have collected about $19,000, and donations are still coming in! Dr. Gerhart dressed as a magician for Race Day; our pie throwing assembly will be held on October 21st (when we will also draw the names of the WalMart gift card winners); and we are in the process of booking a date for the Family Fun Night!
Again, we would like to thank all our volunteers. It's a huge undertaking to process all those labels, hand out prizes, prepare mailers, open & log-in thousands of donations, and staff our Race Day. We truly couldn't do it without you. A Special thank you to Rebecca Pereverzoff who contacted and scheduled virtually every volunteer. Your help was invaluable!
The money raised through Race For Education will be used for field trips, assemblies, PTO sponsored events, and other student services at Akron Elementary. Thank you to everyone who donated to make this a great year for our All-Stars!
