The activity taught the children essential life skills in helping with the giving of others in our community, as well as academically---exploring numerical values.
Thanks to everyone who donated items and helped the second grade classrooms reach their goal of 100 plus items!
Both students and staff also had fun as they dressed up in outfits that portrayed what they would look like if they were 100 years old.
Highland
On Friday, February 10, 2012, the first grade classes at Highland Elementary School celebrated the 101st day of First Grade. The students went to each classroom to do a project with the number 101. In Mrs. Rhine's classroom, they worked in small groups to line up 101 objects. Then they compared the size of the lines. In Mrs. Etkin's classroom, they drew a picture of what they thought they would look like when they turned 101. They also answered different questions like What will your favorite vacation spot be? What will you drive? Where will you live? In Mrs. Bachman's classroom, the students colored in numbers on a chart to reveal a "mystery" number...101! In Mrs. Walters' classroom, the students colored in a pattern on a hundreds chart and then they were placed together to make a paper quilt.
